Chiropractic and Back Pain

The most common reason that people start chiropractic care is because they are in pain. If you have low back pain you are not alone - 80% of people will experience a disabling back issue at some stage.

When you have back pain it can effect every part of your life. Back pain is one of the leading causes of time off work, it often makes it harder for us to sleep and exercise and makes it tougher to be the person we want to be with our friends and family.

When you have back pain, you want to get back to your life quickly.

Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to back pain.

Back pain has a number of different possible causes. Most back pain is mechanical – it is caused by something in your back not moving or working properly. Other causes such as arthritis, infections and cancer are much more rare.

Our approach to people who have back pain is to first find out what is causing your pain. We will ask you questions and do a thorough examination. From that we will develop a plan to get you back on track using a combination of hands on approaches and exercises.

Our chiropractors are experienced at helping people with back pain get back on track. Please call us on 9696 1057 to book an appointment.

Chiropractic and Neck Pain

Your neck has 7 bones or vertebra that are stacked on top of each other. The vertebra have discs of cartilage in between them and are bound by ligaments. Your neck muscles move your neck as well as maintaining your posture.

Your neck supports the weight of your head, which on average weighs 4-5 kilograms! It is also a very mobile part of the body. This combination of factors is a big part of the reason that neck problems are very common.

When you have neck pain it is common to also have headaches , shoulder or arm pain.

Neck pain often makes it more difficult to sleep, work, exercise and fulfil your family roles so it is something that people want to get fast improvement with.

Our approach to people who have neck pain is to first find out what is causing your pain. We will ask you questions and do a thorough examination.

From that we will formulate a plan based on your situation and goals.

Chiropractic and Headache

Headaches are one of the most common reasons that people come to see us at Align Chiropractic. It's an area that we have a special clinical interest in. When you have a headache it can affect every part of your life. It's more than the pain, it often makes it harder to work, look after your family and enjoy time with your family and friends.

Headaches vary a lot in how severe they are and how often they come.

There are many different causes of headache. Headaches are generally divided into two groups:

  1. Secondary headache where the headache is caused by some other problem. Common types of secondary headaches are sinus headache where the headache is caused by a problem with the sinuses and cervicogenic headache where the headache is caused by a problem with the neck.
  2. Primary headache where the headache is not associated with any other underlying problem. Common types of primary headache are tension-type headache, migraines and cluster headaches.

When someone consults us seeking help with headaches our approach is to ask you questions and do a detailed examination to better understand the type of headache you are experiencing. From this we will formulate a plan based on your unique findings.

Chiropractic and Jaw Pain

Chiropractic and Jaw Pain

chiropractic and jaw pain

When you experience jaw pain it can effect your life in a number of ways. It can make it harder to eat, harder to talk, harder to sleep and even harder to kiss!

While jaw pain is common it is a condition that many people are not aware of.

Many of the people we see who have jaw pain feel like other people really don’t understand why they are so miserable with it.

You may have heard the terms “TMJ” and TMD but not really understood what they mean.

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint which is the technical name for your jaw joints. You have two of them (one on each side).

TMD stands for temporomandibular joint dysfunction. It refers to pain and dysfunction of the muscles that move your jaw and the joints of your jaw (TMJ).

Our chiropractors have a special interest in helping people with TMD.

Our approach to TMD is to:

  • assess your jaw joints and muscles
  • assess your posture (your posture, especially of your neck, can effect how your jaw works)
  • work with your dentist
  • provide chiropractic care and exercises to improve any problems
