chiropractic and jaw pain

When you experience jaw pain it can effect your life in a number of ways. It can make it harder to eat, harder to talk, harder to sleep and even harder to kiss!

While jaw pain is common it is a condition that many people are not aware of.

Many of the people we see who have jaw pain feel like other people really don’t understand why they are so miserable with it.

You may have heard the terms “TMJ” and TMD but not really understood what they mean.

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint which is the technical name for your jaw joints. You have two of them (one on each side).

TMD stands for temporomandibular joint dysfunction. It refers to pain and dysfunction of the muscles that move your jaw and the joints of your jaw (TMJ).

Our chiropractors have a special interest in helping people with TMD.

Our approach to TMD is to:

  • assess your jaw joints and muscles
  • assess your posture (your posture, especially of your neck, can effect how your jaw works)
  • work with your dentist
  • provide chiropractic care and exercises to improve any problems
